Fire Chief Conquers Cervical Stenosis
Now Back to Work Full Time Protecting the Community
This fire chief noticed progressive numbness, and worsening strength in the right arm caused by degenerative disc disease compressing the spinal cord--a condition known as cervical stenosis.
Suddenly, after a lifetime of being very active, he was no longer able to perform on the job. When his cervical stenosis got worse he went from being able to easily lift heavy weights to barley being able to lift his arm.
He was treated with a surgical procedure called an anterior cervical decompression and fusion (ACDF), that is used to take pressure off of the spinal cord and unkink the neck. Now he is back to work full time with full use of his right arm.
